Description
Founded in 1853, C. Bechstein is widely regarded as one of the world’s finest piano makers, producing instruments renowned for their craftsmanship and longevity. Favoured by composers and performers alike, Bechstein pianos have long been associated with concert performance and refined musical expression.
This particular example is believed to be a Model B grand piano (often referred to as a “large grand”), dating from around 1911 based on its serial number (98088). With a length of approximately 200cm and a width of around 150cm, it sits within the highly desirable size range remaining suitable for both private and more formal settings.
The piano is beautifully preserved and presented in excellent overall condition, having clearly benefited from attentive and knowledgeable care throughout its life. Notably, it underwent a full restoration approximately 15 years ago by respected UK specialists Shackleford Pianos, ensuring both its mechanical integrity and musical performance were returned to a high standard.
Since the late 1940s, the piano has remained within the same family, where it has been lovingly played and carefully maintained — a rare continuity of ownership that speaks to both its quality and enduring appeal.
This is a beautiful example of a classic Bechstein grand piano, combining musical capability with a strong sense of heritage and craftsmanship, ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
