Description
The Ferguson TE20 was the brainchild of engineer and inventor, Harry Ferguson, one of the founders of the present-day Massey Ferguson. By far his most popular design, it marked a major advance in tractor design both in size and with its hydraulic three-point hitch system – an invention that quickly became an international standard for tractors.
This 1956 example has been restored by its previous owner in 2020 to an excellent standard. It’s powered by 4-cylinder Continental petrol engine; coupled to this is a 5-speed (four forward and 1 reverse) gearbox and mechanical clutch.
The exterior panels are presented in excellent condition, with only one small chip in the corner of the engine cover being the only blemish of note. The traditional all grey colour scheme has been finished to a very high standard throughout and suits this tractor perfectly.
Both front and rear wheels carry the same colour scheme as the body and with an equally impressive finish, complimented by new wheel nuts. All four tyres are like new.
Mechanically this TE20 runs perfectly and always starts without issue. The engine, suspension components and underbody have all been resprayed during the restoration and mirror the condition of the rest of this tractor. The vendor reports there are no mechanical faults, and all elements are fully operational.
It’s not hard to see why these ‘Little Grey Fergies’ are such sought after collectable classics, and the TE20 is arguably one of the most important models in the Ferguson and Massey-Ferguson history. Having been restored to an excellent standard, it stands ready to be enjoyed on the ever-popular tractor runs or displayed at agricultural shows where it will deservedly draw a lot of attention.
