1963 Massey Ferguson 35

Winning Bid: £5,250.00

Produced from 1956 until 1964, the Massey Ferguson 35 was the successor to the revolutionary all-grey post war TE20. This 1963 example which was the first to carry the now traditional red and grey colour scheme, has been reconditioned to a good standard.

Description

This 1963 Massey Ferguson 35 has been reconditioned over the last 12 months by the current owner, after it was discovered in a local barn. It’s powered by a 2.2 litre four-cylinder TVO petrol engine; coupled to this is an 8-speed (six forward and two reverse) gearbox with a mechanical clutch.

The exterior panels are all original and very solid, they also benefit from having been resprayed in the traditional red and grey. This colour scheme replaced the all-grey paint work which the Ferguson 35 tractors had carried up until 1957 when the Massey–Ferguson name was first announced.

Both front and rear wheels have been finished in the matching grey paintwork, with all four tyres offering a good level of tread.

Mechanically this 35 drives very well and always starts without issue. During the rebuild process there have been several mechanical elements replaced including a new radiator, starter solenoid, spark plug leads and battery. The engine, suspension components and underbody have all been resprayed to complete the overall exterior appearance. The vendor reports there are no mechanical or electrical faults, and all dials and associated elements are fully operational.

It’s not hard to see why these are such sought after collectable tractors, and a rarer model than its 135 successor. Having been reconditioned to a good standard, it stands ready to work and be enjoyed.
