Description
This 1977 Jimini 2 is a fantastic example of the cult favourite recreational vehicle, inspired by the Mini Moke. The Mk1 Jimini’s were first produced in 1973 and the key difference was their steel body construction. From 1976, they switched to a fibreglass shell which prevented any corrosion or rust.
Created using a similar chassis to the Mini, Jemini were able to utilise some of the same Mini running gear on their vehicle. This Jimini 2 is powered by a 998cc A-series engine coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox.
The fibreglass exterior is very well presented with white paintwork and a blue front grill. Structurally, this Jimini is incredibly solid and underwent a full historic examination by Driver and Vehicles Standards (DVS) Jersey in December 2022, where it passed without any issues.
With completely open sides this style of vehicle is most enjoyed during the summer months, however it comes equipped with a new full weather black hood. This provides the flexibility to use it fully enclosed, with open sides or fully removed – and is unzipped in seconds!
The interior is classically simple. The dash houses the speedometer, engine temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge. All electrics are in perfect working order. The front and rear seats are covered in a retro turquoise fabric which suits the era and charm of the car perfectly, they show no signs of wear. This Jimini 2 also has a small boot space behind the rear seats which will comfortably cater for beach trips.
Mechanically, the reliable 998cc engine is in great working order and starts perfectly every time. Recently fitted with a new exhaust system, the vendor reports there are no mechanical faults with this vehicle.
The Jimini 2 is a unique classic with bags of charm and perfectly suited to island life. With room for all the family, it is guaranteed to turn heads when being used for trips to the beach or summer sunset drives!
