First registered in June 2001, this Defender has been in Jersey from new and covered 64,371 miles.
The stylish grey metallic paintwork is presented in very good condition overall. There are some blemishes on the bodywork through its 23 years of general use, notably, a dent on each front wing, some corrosion on the rear cross member and some signs of bubbling on the bottom of the passenger door. The underneath of the car remains very solid and clean.
The 16-inch ‘Boost’ alloy wheels are all in great shape with no damage, and all 4 tyres retain a significant amount of tread.
Moving inside, the seat upholstery and cabin trim remains in excellent condition, with little sign of wear. This model has an additional seat and lap-belt in the front in place of a cubby box, and with 4 fold-down seats in the rear compartment it provides capacity for 6 passengers. There are matching Land Rover rubber over matts in both the front and rear. Completing the interior is a Pioneer head unit and manual sunroof.
Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre TD5 engine which drives all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Mechanically, this Defender has been very well maintained with a complete annual service history from 2001 until it’s last service in January of this year. This service included new intercooler hoses and track-rod ends. The service book is accompanied by its original Defender handbooks.
As far as 4x4s go, the rugged charm of the Land Rover Defender is hard to beat. It’s an iconic workhorse that makes ease of towing horseboxes, tackling tough terrain, or equally accommodating all the family and the dog for weekend walks. Presented in very good condition overall and with an excellent service history, it stands ready to provide many more years of faithful service.
