Description

This MGB Roadster is a handsome example of one of the quintessential classic British sports cars. Presented in very good condition overall, it’s powered by the traditional 1.8-litre B-Series inline-four cylinder engine delivering drive to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox.

First registered in September 1970, this example features the early chromed metal bumpers, prior to their replacement with the less elegant rubber items that were introduced four years later. The bodywork is in good condition overall, with straight and solid panels. The orange paintwork also presents well, only displaying some small chips around the headlight, a scratch on the boot lid and some slight discolouring on the passenger front wing.

The exterior chrome trim, including the bumpers, windscreen surround, boot mounted luggage rack and door mirrors are all in great shape. The fabric convertible hood presents well and is free of any rips or tears; the vinyl rear window provides good visibility. This MGB rides on 14-inch chromed Rostyle wheels with all four tyres retaining a decent amount of tread.

Moving inside, the black leatherette seats show little signs of wear considering the age of the car, the door cards follow the same theme. The black dashboard houses a variety of switches and gauges, all of which are in perfect working order.

Under the bonnet, the engine and surrounding bay area is clean and well maintained. The 1.8-litre B-Series engine runs well, and the sale includes a number of invoices for work and maintenance carried out including front and rear main seal replacements and the re-build of its full cooling system in 2022.

This 1970 MGB Roadster is a great example of the characterful classic British sports car. A Jersey car from new that has been well cared for by its previous owner and stands ready for its new owner to get behind the wheel and enjoy one of the most recognisable and iconic convertibles from the 1960s and ‘70s.
