The VW Beetle is a true icon of 20th Century motoring. Itโs the longest-running and most manufactured car of a single design platform in the world with over 21 million cars produced between 1938 and 2003.
The ‘1300’ model was launched in 1966 and provided the biggest one-time jump in power output – by a whopping 25% – to 50bhp. The 1960’s brought great strides in motorway development and Volkswagen’s competitors were building ever faster cars. The ‘1300’ Beetle was fundamental in ensuring it was able to keep up with the new modern pace. With tighter gearing and tuned for higher rpm, the nimble acceleration of the ‘1300’ was also more than a match for the later models in the form of the โ1500โ and โ1600โ and these characteristics have made the ‘1300’ one of the most nostalgic and desired classic Beetle incarnations.

The door cards, carpets and beautifully painted body colour dash area continue this theme. The previous owner also took the opportunity to install rear seat belts and a stereo discretely under the glovebox and 2 small speakers in the doors.
Under the bonnet is a 1300cc air-cooled flat four engine which is coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox. The reconditioned engine was fitted during the restoration and has been well maintained since. Most recently it received a full check over, engine oil and filter change at the beginning of May.
