Q1 ROUND-UP

16th April 2023

Often the start of year can be one of the quietest times for car sales, but the first quarter of 2023 has been our busiest and most successful period to date! We thought it would therefore be an ideal opportunity to have a bit of a recap and share some of our highlights including some exciting dates to mark in your diaries!

Our focus remains on trying to deliver a great online automotive auction service for buyers and sellers, and so it has been fantastic to see the continuous growth in engagement, customer base and reach of our audience increase week on week. It’s these areas which have helped contribute to Hammer Price achieving an impressive 52% sale rate throughout Q1.

Let’s look at some of the highlights!

Our Oldest Sale!

Approaching 100 years old, we were delighted to sell this stunning all American 1927 Cadillac 314 V8. An incredibly luxurious cruiser, this 314 was in beautiful condition and featured some lovely touches – the wooden spoke wheels were a firm favourite! Typically, these cars are of more popularity in north America but this burbling V8 vintage is remaining in Jersey and is the only model of its type on the island, so you won’t miss it on the road!

Retro Charm

This Vauxhall Nova GTE has been one of our most popular listings so far this year, both in terms of views but also with bids coming from across the Channel Islands, UK and Ireland. As far as 90’s hot hatches go the Nova GTE must be towards the top of the list, and this one didn’t disappoint. The sale of this Nova also provided a ‘first’ for our business, as it’s the first car that we’ve sold to the UK and another indicator of the growth and reach that our online auction is having. It successfully made the 3.5-hour motorway trip to its new home without missing a beat and has one very happy new owner.

Electric Vehicles on the Charge

At the opposite end of spectrum to the monstrous 5.1 litre Cadillac, we achieved another ‘first’ with the sale of this BMW i3, our first electric vehicle (EV) sale. In the world we live in today the appeal of EVs is hard to ignore and having spent little time driving EVs before, we were very impressed by the i3. This particular model had a range extender to further enhance its mileage capability, they really are fantastic cars – perfect for Island life. We expect to see more and more EVs coming to our auction, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re looking to switch to electric power!

Hammer Price Numbers

Date for your diary!

Low digit and unique registration plates are always popular in the auction, there’s something quite appealing about those sequence of numbers! We’re therefore thrilled to announce we’ll be running a special ‘Hammer Price Numbers’ auction from 7pm on Sunday 30th April until 7pm on Sunday 7th May. The auction will be dedicated to vehicles assigned with low digit number plates, and there will be some great numbers going under the hammer. Make sure you add this date to your diary now, and if you’re looking to sell it’s not too late to get in touch – remember you receive 100% of the selling price!

Classic Goodwood

Although not auction related, keep a look out for some track day content across our social media as we head into May. We’ll be heading across to the Goodwood circuit in a 1964 Jaguar MK2 to stretch its legs with a bit of track time.

Hopefully you’ve found this Q1 round-up interesting, we’ll continue to keep you updated over the next few months with lots more auction activity and further exciting plans!
